Documents are an essential aspect of any job. Documentation is essential, whether you’re preparing for busy times or transferring a project to another team member. Documentation can also help save time since you don’t need to go through emails or download files to locate the information you need.

Document can also be an unwritten record of something, for instance journal entries or a school report. Documents can be structured or semistructured. Unstructured documents include handwritten notes, letters, and newspaper articles. Semistructured documents include databases, books and blogs that are online. Documents can also be nonfictional pieces that serve as an overview, study, or a comparison. Examples include manuscripts, printed material pictures, illustrations maps, and museum specimens.

A document is a type of file on the macOS device that includes text and formatting that can be printed out on paper or viewed using a screen. You can create documents with macOS applications such as Pages and TextEdit and templates available from the App Store.
